What a Month!!!

Wow,

Sorry it has been a couple of weeks since my last blog. Life has been crazy the last couple of weeks. It could have been worse I know but getting puked on in the face is not one of the highlights of my life. Just to let you know it stings really bad when it gets in your eyes. Yes, we have had the stomach flu in the house. I think Squeak and I should have checked into a hotel for the last couple of weeks. It was pretty rough. Luckily, Squeak nor I got sick. Well at least not yet.

I finally broke down and had Mom come to the rescue. She was a great help and we loved having her here for a few days. During this mayhem, Mr. Smiley did open the pool. So he was really busy - but it is finally open. We were able to take the kids a couple of times when Mom was here so she could watch Squeak for us. I will have pictures soon. Mr. Smiley did a great job on this project and the city is really happy - it turned out better than anyone could have imagined.

Other than sickness and pool stuff, we have not been up to much. The kids have been playing outside 24/7 and are having fun playing with friends. Squeak has been growing really well and has slept through the night a couple of times. She is a really good little girl but she does like to be held to go to sleep - so we are working on that.

When Mr. Smiley was home right after we had Squeak he kept the kids entertained and bombed the neighborhood with water balloons. They filled up a whole bucket and drove around the neighborhood and anyone that was out was hit with the balloons. Yes - he can still have fun even though he is busy. I do think we have paybacks coming.

On the 4th of July, Jeff, Cael, and Van spent the day with us. It was great to spend time with our friends.

Last night we had one huge sleepover - all of the 14-18 year olds in the ward camped out in the backyard. I think they had a great time and actually slept a little. They didn't even wake up the kids.

Well to sum up the rest of the month, I think Squeak has the answer:

One Week Old

Can you believe it, our little Squeak is already one week old. She has had a few monumental achievements in this short time. Her first bath, first night being awake, her first outing to the Lake and her first hike up the canyon. I think we all enjoyed these monumental events except for the first night awake.

We are all doing really well and adjusting pretty good. Petunia had a rough week as she was sick for 3 days - what bad timing - get sick right when we bring home a new baby. Petunia was very sad because she couldn't hold Squeak.

Mr. Smiley has been able to be home a lot this week which has been great! We will all be sad when he goes back to work on Monday. Mr. Smiley and Farmer have been working really hard in the yard. Farmer is a really good helper.

Peanut and Petunia finished swimming lessons last Thursday and both really enjoyed it. They are becoming pretty good little swimmers. I can't believe that we made it through swimming lessons before Squeak was born. Really perfect timing. Speaking of swimming, the pool is still not open but Mr. Smiley will be filling it on Tuesday this coming week, so it should be ready for the July Grand Opening.

We just wanted to tell everyone that we have enjoyed your visits and all of your calls. Thank you for sharing this wonderful time in our lives with us.

Introducing Baby J

On Saturday June 14th, Flag Day, our baby arrived to join our family. We are so excited to have her with us. What a miracle we have been given. Her name means "God is Gracious" and we believe this to be true for our little girl as Heavenly Father has blessed us with this perfect little angel.She was 7lbs. 2 oz. minutes after birth - I say that because she peed all over the doctor twice, and then again on the nurse before she was weighed so I think she weighed a couple ounces more. She is 19 inches long and has very long fingers and toes, just like mom. She has a round face with cute chubby cheeks and a double chin. Squeak looks a lot like Petunia did at birth but she also has her own look. The kids are very excited and were really cute with her at the hospital and at home. As soon as we got home Farmer ran to his room and gave her one of his best toys to play with.

Popping Balloons

Today was one of those days when an innocent 2 year old wrecks havoc on the house. Farmer found a pushpin and popped a balloon - what fun he thinks, I need more to pop. He couldn't find anymore balloons so he found anything with air in it. Yes, he ended up popping several balls and the girls bouncy horse. (They are not happy with the young boy.)
When I finally figured out what he was doing it was too late to save my fitness ball. He said, "Mommy this one won't pop!" I went running and found the pushpin sticking right into the fitness ball. I was hopeful that he had only tried to "pop" it once but when the patch was in place it was very apparent that he had tried to "pop" it several times. I think I have found at least 7 holes in the ball.
Needless to say, I am not very happy about what happened today. I am not sure I am up to fixing that many holes but it is a very nice and expensive fitness ball. I use it all of the time. I am just afraid if I spend the time to fix it, he will just try to pop it again. Maybe I will just wait until it no longer fascinates him. Of course he didn't know he was doing anything wrong so he only had to spend a few minutes in his room. Next time though he may be there quite a while. He is lucky that he is so cute and mom can't stay mad at him for too long.

Last day of School!

Today was officially the last day of school. Peanut has been done for a week or two but Petunia finished today with a half day. The last two weeks have been filled with some fun activities and programs. Peanut had her program at Orchard hills and at Busy Beeginners. She had a couple of parts in her program for Busy Beeginners, one of which she ended up singing a solo - her first. It wasn't really supposed to be that way but she was the one standing in front of the microphone so all you could hear was Peanut. She did great. She has also been learning to ride her bike the past few days and is doing really well. She is one that never gives up.

Petunia also had her program at school which was fun. Grandpa and Grandma J were able to come to both of the girls programs because they were on the same day. A couple of days before that Petunia's first grade class went to the Zoo. Petunia had a great time because Mr. Smiley was able to go along as well. Petunia said she had the craziest Dad (which we all know is true).

Farmer is just all boy - playing outside nonstop, riding his bike, and getting really dirty whenever he can. He is great! Last week he was looking very inquisitively at my tummy and asked,"Mommy, do you have a door in your tummy?" I just laughed and replied, "Yes."- I didn't know that a 2 year old would be thinking so deeply. I think there will be many more questions like that coming soon.

I have just 3 more weeks until my due date - it is getting really close. We have swimming lessons scheduled for the kids until the 12th so hopefully our little baby decides to wait until after that day to come. June is going to be a great month for us!

Mr. Smiley is keeping busy at work patiently waiting for the pool to be done. He is hoping it will be open before July but with the weather the way it has been, it isn't looking promising. He will have a very busy month in July with the pool opening, youth conference, a trip to the Uintas with the scouts and two baseball tournaments. Crazy!!! Before we know it the summer will be over and the kids will be back in school.

I am sad to admit that Mr. Smiley and I have never really been good at keeping in touch with friends and family in the past, so here is our valiant effort to let everyone know how we are doing and what is going on in our lives. We hope that you will enjoy reading tidbits about us, and that we can have you be more a part of our lives.

So onto our life. If you didn't know already, Mr. Smiley and I are expecting our 4th child in June. Only 6 weeks to go. We are having a little girl and we really excited to meet her. No to the question on your mind - we do not have a name picked out yet! We will let you know when we know.

Petunia is just finishing up the 1st grade, Peanut is as lively as ever and keeps us all entertained and Farmer is keeping me running - but I am falling far behind. Mr. Smiley is working for the city and is busy trying to get the new pool open. I know it will open the day we have our baby. So if you are wondering when the pool will open - it will be that day. (Whatever day that may be.) Last but not least, I (runnergirl) am just trying to get ready to being a mom of four.
